Put on lotion within 3 minutes after your shower or bath while your skin is still warm. Your skin absorbs lotion best during this time.
Don't dry off completely after showering - just lightly pat your skin with a towel so it's still a little damp. This helps the lotion work better.
Use about a quarter-sized amount for each arm and leg, and a bit more for your chest and back. This gives you enough lotion without using too much.
Gently massage the lotion in circular, upward motions, spending a little time on each area. Pay extra attention to dry spots, such as elbows and knees, to ensure they get enough moisture.
